Very Good

Beyond the basic board, Trello offers multiple views (timeline, calendar, table, map), automation through Butler, and 100+ power-ups for integration with external tools. Simplest and best for small teams
We're a 4-person content agency and Trello is perfect for us. Kanban boards for each client, cards for each deliverable, due dates and checklists for each task. It's visual, intuitive, and everyone on the team was up and running within an hour. No training needed.
Great free plan, solid paid features
The free plan is genuinely useful for personal productivity. I've been on the Standard plan for a year and the unlimited boards and advanced checklists are worth the $5/month. Butler automation has saved me easily 2+ hours per week on repetitive task creation.
Good for simple projects, not complex ones
Trello is excellent for simple Kanban workflows but we outgrew it as our team grew. Dependencies between tasks are clunky, reporting is limited, and we moved to Asana for more complex project tracking. Don't let that discourage you if your needs are simple though.
Trello is the perfect entry point for project management. Its simplicity makes it immediately usable, and the free plan is genuinely capable for small teams. For complex projects that require reporting, resource management, or advanced workflows, you may eventually outgrow it — but as a visual task tracker, Trello is hard to beat.
Small teams, freelancers, and individuals who prefer visual Kanban-style task management
